#FREPS: Operanation Trend Report
June 8, 2017
In true Canadian Opera Company fashion, the 2017 Operanation attendees demonstrated the hottest trends of the season. From the modernized 80s ruffles, to the cold shoulder, the FSQUAD has your Operanation Trend Report covered.
Florals are always an all time favorite for Summer, regardless of the year. But what some are calling the “Wallpaper Trend” has taken the ever so ground breaking floral to another level. As Vogue stated: “Wear Your Walls.”
The best part of the Off-The-Shoulder look? There’s no need for squats or sit ups, because shoulders always look chic. Leave your gym clothes at home and let the dress do the work. This is the trend for the effortless, yet stylish, girl.
The Not-So-Classic Suit
The men of Operanation showed off the Not-So-Classic Suit look. Whether it is a coloured or printed suit, or a patterned button up, these men proved that it’s the time to switch up, and loosen up, those stiff black suits.
Wings and Capes
Wonder Woman, who? Make an entrance as big as any superhero by adding a cape. This trend has been seen before, mostly in the Fall with coats. Now, it is its time to shine in Summer with the caped dress and winged shirts.
Easily one of the biggest comebacks from the 80s. Dramatic or subtle, ruffles are back and bigger than ever. Adding a modern touch to a classic look, ruffles appear momentarily at either the hem, the neckline, or even the sleeves (unlike those old school prom dresses that were more ruffles than dress).
